GustoMSC is a specialist in heavy lifting crane design, and is constructing the GT274 E4000 Heavy Lift Offshore Crane. The Heavy Lift Crane is a fully revolving crane designed for lifting, loading, unloading and assembly of large and heavy loads in the offshore environment.

The Strainstall LMS for Gusto GT274 4000 Te offshore crane is based on the Siemens S7-300 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) with Siemens WinCC Flexible touch screen operator interface.

Strainstall AS is a specialist in the design, engineering and manufacture of Load Monitoring & Control System, and is the elected supplier of the Load Monitoring System (LMS) for this 4000 Tonne crane, contracted by Converteam for this project.

The main features of Gusto GT264 5000 Te Crane LMS is:

• Design, Engineer and supply the LMS acc. to the specification no. GT274-SJ-G-79-002-C1
  The Scope of supply and the kernel of the system is the LMS based on Siemens PLC:
  • The PLC, Siemens S7-300 series
  • The design and supply of the HMI program for the LMS
  • Sensors and transducers as per the specification
• Interface with the Siemens control system and third party sensors
• Load cells (third party supply) for the individual hooks, boom, and trolley.
• Angle sensors for boom angle measurement.
• Inclination sensors for the crane’s trim & heel
• Wind speed and wind direction sensors, referenced to the crane.
• Proximity switches for boom, hooks and trolley speed & length measurement.
• Operational envelopes and parameters based on load charts for each hook and the trolley.
• Alarm outputs, visual, audible and potential free contacts for the controls interface, including pre-warning and high load.
• Hardwired interface with the controls for the selected hook in operation for correct display on the HMI for the operator
• Main HMI display auto-switching with respect to the various hook(s) selected.
• Built in Calibration, Adjustment and Maintenance function
• Signal and system self checking functions.
• Interface with the other control systems through Siemens Profinet.
